How to give credit

Use the credit shown on the photo page. Put it beside the image or in the social caption, linking to that photo’s permanent page. Where links are not supported, print the source URL. Keep the watermark visible.

Free photo-sharing license

Cody I. Hartt Photo Sharing License — version 2026-10-07-v1. The named copyright owner grants the verified requester a free, nonexclusive license to use this watermarked web-size photograph for personal sharing or editorial/community reporting, including reporting by commercial news publishers. Place the supplied photo credit beside the image or in its caption, and link to the original photo page wherever clickable links are supported; otherwise print the source URL. Keep the watermark visible. Resizing is permitted; other alterations require separate permission. This license does not permit advertising, endorsements, merchandise, resale, stock redistribution, sublicensing, or access to an unwatermarked original. Request separate written permission for those uses. No endorsement or rights in depicted people, artworks, trademarks, or private property are granted. Any additional permissions required for your use remain your responsibility. You do not acquire copyright ownership. Uses permitted by applicable law are unaffected. Retain this receipt as the record of your permission.

Other uses

For advertising, endorsements, merchandise, resale, stock redistribution, other edits, or original files, choose the separate-permission option on the photo page. A request or photo credit alone does not grant those rights. Any approved terms will appear in your permission receipt.

People, places, and sensitive subjects

A copyright license does not automatically grant permission from people depicted in a photo or permission to use trademarks, artwork, or private property. Do not imply endorsement. Confirm any additional permissions needed for your use.

Photo-request privacy

We collect your name, email, intended use, accepted license, verification time, and download-response records to administer photo permissions. Publication links are optional. Records are accessible to authorized site administrators and retained while needed to administer and document permissions; they are not added to a marketing list.

A secure, essential cookie keeps your photo session open for seven days. Verification links expire after 30 minutes; download links expire after two minutes and require your photo session. Sign out on shared devices.

We record that our server issued a file; this does not prove it was saved or published. We may manually review submitted publication links. We cannot identify every screenshot or reuse elsewhere.
